Promise Skin was starting from nothing. No customer list, no reviews, no brand recognition, and a skincare market where first-time buyers are careful about what they put on their skin. Paid ads and influencers could bring people to the store, but that traffic is expensive and unforgiving: visitors arrive on a phone, know nothing about the brand, and leave in seconds if the page does not answer the obvious questions. A template store would have looked like every other new skincare brand and given those visitors no reason to buy.
We designed and built a custom Shopify theme over about two and a half months, starting from the path to checkout rather than the homepage. Product pages were structured around the objections a first-time buyer actually has: what it does, what is in it, what it feels like, and who it is for. Reviews were collected and shown from day one, so the store never looked untested. We built bundles into the range so the products explained each other and the average order carried more than a single item. Everything was built mobile-first and kept fast, because launch traffic from paid social and influencers lands on phones, and every slow page is paid-for traffic wasted.
The launch sold out. Roughly 1,000 units of every product went in a single weekend, from a standing start with no existing audience, and the average order value held above PKR 4,000 because the bundles did their job. We still work with Promise Skin today, improving the store as the range grows.
